My First Marathon

Today is Sunday, one week before the goal I want to achieve in my life so much. My first Marathon I have chosen to run in Portugal, Rock´n´roll Lisbon, 15th of October. How do I feel? Well, Im not in the best shape or form I suppose as I have a problem with my left leg, but…I think I am ready to beat those 42,2 km today. Today I had the last long run before THE BIG DAY. This week will be time to concentrate, to eat well and plenty of sleep. I have been training so hard. I was preparing basically for one year. Now it is time to feel satisfaction. Like I say: I run to escape, to feel the wind, to feel the beat of my heart. I want this so bad, and I am so happy that my husband will run with me. He was with me all the time, all year round he was running by my side and I hope to see him by my side at the finish line too. I said after my first half marathon I would love to run full marathon one day, and I hoped my other half would do it with me. What can I say, dreams come true. Some of them need a bit more efforts, some of them need more patience, some of them are really far away. You should always try to reach them, no matter how hard it is. Today I feel that I try so hard, and I know that finish line is calling my name :) We will rock that Sunday 15/10/17 !!!

Our friends will come to join us too. Feeling even more excited to have more important people in my life with the same desires...

....And today is 19/10/2017. How did it go? We did it. Both of us. I am so happy that my husband was by my side all the way. Dream came true and that feeling when you reach the finish line. Just speechless, it seems like I got a very big prize that is invaluable. Kind of euphoria that makes you so happy.

I can´t say it was very easy. First 20 km was really fantastic, the view in Lisbon is breathtaking - waves, caves, beautiful city, people. My coach said that for the first time in your life the goal should be to enjoy and reach the finish line. I really wanted to finish in 4 hours time. But.. I suppose you need to have a bit more of an experience. After 20 km, weather temperature got up to +27 C and my pulse went from 170 bmp to 200 bmp. I needed to slow down and even walk couple times. I really appreciated that my husband supported me. After 30 km I began to feel pain in my leg where I had an injury.

Refreshing showers have really helped while running, well done and big respect to organisation. Water, fruits, energetic drinks - every little helped!

I said to my self that it would be sad if the time was more then 4 hours and 30 min. And what can I say, time was 4:30:28, my husband´s official time was 1 sec faster :) I hugged him and said thank you. It seemed that we became even stronger.

Last 195 metres I can remember like it was just a second ago. Of course it seemed like the longest distance in my life after you run 42 km. It was amazing, the track was in the centre of the city with thousands people cheering. Our friend ran his second marathon. I think he has dedicated his medal and his record to his baby girl Anikė. Sadly his wife with daughter couldn't cheer him on, but I believe she was even more excited and worried at the same time than us back home.

I am more than happy, satisfied and with a smile on my face can promise to myself that this marathon will not be the last one.

Thanks to all the support. You should never give up and achieve, achieve, achieve.

“I run to escape, to feel the wind”.
